I wrote the lyrics of this song as a dedication to the love I have for my Mom. I was sitting in my lounge where I write sometimes. Its a quiet place in my home where I relax and believe or not I realized that it was Mother's day and I hadn't sent my Mom flowers or a card. I knew I had better come up with something quick and memorable...I thought to my self...a song could be memorable so I began writing to a track that one of my frequent co-writers had sent to me. Thurston "T.J." Lopes, the son of one of my line brother's (I pledged Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc @ Hampton University)
T.J. plays acoustic guitar so soulfully that I am often able to lock in quickly and good soulful music is often the result. In fact almost all of the tunes he and I have written together have started with an acoustic guitar, great chords and a willingness to be the vessels that the songs come thorough...
Lyrics
Mother you gave life to me
Held me inside you and protected me
You brought me into this world
where you love and nurtured me
First smile I saw, first love I knew
Every first should be like my first with you
In every memory of my life
There are reflections of you
I love you Mom I love you so
My heart holds you close and I'll never let you go
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for everything you are
Mother you told me that I
Could be anything that I decided
You showed me the world ...showed me the world from your point of view
Taught me to dream, Taught me see
That what really is important is my family
In every memory of my life
there are reflections of you
I love you Mom I love you So
My heart holds you close and I'll never let You go
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for everything you are
Because of all the love you shown to me
You've taught me how to be
So now I give to those that I love the same You gave to me and now forever your love Will remain...I love you Mom.
(Spoken word)
Mom, I just wanted to say thank you for Everything you've ever done for me
You know… I don't know how I would have made it without you
All your sacrifices, all the love you provided And All the direction all the consolation in Tough times
I just want to say ...I love you Mom
Chorus
I love you Mom
I love you So
My heart holds you close
And I'll never let you go
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for everything you are
