The demo was literally a guitar & a vocal. I added a drum groove and loved this one enough to get it through the many versions it took to get it to finished production.
Love Ain't Sunshine was written after a spat with my girl. At that particular time in life I was recently separated and in a new relationship. Still way too fragile to think that love could survive the storms that we go through when learning to love someone new...I was at the kind of head space where my faith in love was being tested. I didn't believe that love could make it to through to the blue skies with no clouds. But I also didn't want to believe that there were no blue skies on my horizon.
